About Munsiyari

Munsiyari is one of the lesser known destinations in Uttarakhand, it is base camp of some of the famous treks starting from Musiyari. Some of the tourist spots in Munsiyari areMajestic Peak of Panchchuli can be viewed from here, Birthi Falls, Maheshwari Kund, Betulidhar, Thamari Kund and Darkot. Munsiyari is located at the height of 2,300mts from sea level. It can be approached from Deharadun and Saharanpur while driving from Delhi

Munsiyari is the center as well as the Gateway of Johar Region on the banks of Goriganga river. This small town is located at the foot of the main Himalayan peaks that are covered with snow throughout the year. Munsiyari is home to Rhododendrons, Pine and Deodar trees. Birds like wagtail, raven, falcon, monal, Himalayan griffon and serpent eagle can be sotted in Munsiyari region. Majestic Peak of Panchchuli:- situated at an altitude of 6,334mts the Panchchuli peaks are a group of five snow-capped Himalayan peaks. This is the highest peak in the group. It was first climbed successfully by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police team.

MaheshwariKund:-is just 5 to 10 min walk from munsiyari. It is also known as MehsarKund by the locales.This spot is now a pond offering panoramic vistas of nature.

Birthi Falls:-it is located 35 km from Munsiyari. This is a wonderful picturesque cascading waterfall surrounded with verdant colors.

Betulidhar :-it is located 5km from Munsiyari. The sunrise and sunsets of Betulidhar showcases beautiful hues of nature. Betulidhar is a large garden full of Rhododendrons. It is an ideal skiing slope in winters.

Darkot :-it is located 6kms from Munsiyari.The old artistic houses of Darkot represent the rich culture and creativity of the people of Kumaon.

By Air :Pantnagar which is 250kms is the nearest airport to reach Munsiyari. There are regular flights from New Delhi.
