About Dhanaulti

Dhanaulti is a beautiful lesser known destination near Mussoorie. It is situated at an altitude of about 2,300 Mts. above sea level. Some of the popular tourist spots in Dhanaulti are Eco Park, Barehipani and Joranda Falls, Deogarh Fort, Jain Temples, Matatila Dam, Aaloo Khet and Dashavatar Temple. Dhanaulti is located about 56 km from Dehradun present day state capital and 290 Kms from National Capital New Delhi. The other adjoining places are Landour, Barlowgunj and Jharipani.

Dhanaulti is a hill station it is 24 km away from the popular hill station of Mussoorie, and 29 km away from Chamba, as it is situated between the two. Dhanaulti rests on the misty mountains amidst dense alpine, oak and rhododendron forests. Dhanaulti is also popular because of its proximity with famous tourist spots like Mussoorie, Tehri, Kanatal and Chamba.

Culture Uttarakhand
Eco Park:- There are two Eco-parks, Amber and Dhara about 200 m apart. It has been developed recently by the Forest Department of Uttarakhand with the help of local youth.

Dashavatar Temple:- The temple was built by the Gupta Empire. The deity of Dashavatar Temple is Lord Vishnu. The temple is also considered as the earliest known Panchyatan temple of North India.

Aaloo Khet:- A Government Potato Farm, also a popular sunrise view point.

Deogarh Fort:- Itis one of the most popular fort situated in Dhanaulti area. The fort is one of the 52 garhs or 52 forts of Uttarakhand state. Deogarh Fort was built in the 16th century near Pratapgarh.

Matatila Dam:-serves as a popular picnic spot which is located amidst the hills of Dhanaulti. This place offers panoramic views and water sports activities.

Surkanda Devi: is at an altitude of 2,752mts above sea level. Surkanda devi temple dedicated to Shakti one of the prominent and most visited temple in that locality. The temple is approachable by trekking of 2 kms from road.

How to reach:

By Air:Jolly Grant which is 90 kms is the nearest airport to reach Dhanaulti. There are regular flights from New Delhi.

Rail: Nearest Railway station is Dehradun, Connected with Delhi, Mumbai, Howrah, Varanasi, Haridwar and other parts of India. Taxis are available from Dehradun Railway station to Mussoorie.

Road:Connected by road from Delhi and other parts of North India.
