About Corbett

Corbett National Park is one of the best National Park in India known for diverse wildlife and landscape. It is one of the first National Park established in India. It lies in two districts of Uttarakhand Pauri and Nainital. The terrain and vegetation of Corbett makes its perfect abode for Tiger, Ashiatic Elephants and other species for Animals and birds. Corbett National Park named after noted hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett. It has become a favored destination for short getaways and weekend holidays from Delhi and other northern India Part.

Brief History of Corbett

In 1879 it was declared as reserved forest under forest act. In 1907 Sir Michael keen taken initiative to convert these forests to game sanctuary. Later in 1934 Sir Malcom Hailey wanted to give the protection through enactment of a law. In 1936 first time the boundary of the National park were demarked and National Park act came into existence and Corbett National Park became the first National Park of the Country. Firstly it was named after its founder Sir Malcolm Healy but later on it was named as Jim Corbett National Park. In 1973 it was the first park to come under Project Tiger the most prestigious and biggest Tiger Conservation project in India.

Best time to visit

Best time to visit Corbett National Park is from October to June. It is advisable to avoid visiting during monsoon season.
