About Chamba

Chamba is situated 60 km from Mussoorie in the Tehri district of Uttarakhand. Chamba is one of the lesser explored destination and is known as unpolluted beauty. It is situated at an altitude of about 1,676 meters above sea level. It provides some of the most breathtaking views of Himalayan ranges and Panoramic view. Some of the tourist spots in Chamba are Rang Mahal, Bhuri Singh Museum, Chamunda Devi Temple, Chowgan, Wajreshwari Temple and Champavati Temple. The other adjoining places are Landour, Barlowgunj and Jharipani. Chamba is located at the height of 1600 meter from sea level is among popular hill stations in North India can be approached from Deharadun and Saharanpur while driving from Delhi and connected by trains till Deharadun.

The temple was built by Sahil Varman in the honour of his daughter Champavati who is worshipped as a goddess in Chamba. Previously Chamba was a part of the Gorkha Kingdom but the Kings of Garhwal later ruled this place. Chamba is a scenic spot with natural splendors which lures the nature lovers throughout the year

Tehri Dam:-Teri DamBuilt at the meeting point of Bhagirathi and Bhilangana Rivers, the dam is one of the attractions of Chamba. This is the World fifth largest dam is just 15 minute away from Chamba.

New Tehri:- The New Tehri is Situated at the height of 1,550 meters.It is 16 km away from the Old Tehri.

Surkanda Devi Temple:-The Surkanda Devi temple stands at a height of about 2,757 m above sea level. Surkanda Devi Temple is located in Tehri district is just 20 km away from Chamba.

Rang Mahal:-The Rang Mahal was established by Raja Umed Singh during the 18th century. Rang Mahal is one of the tourist destination in Chamba.

Wajreshwari Temple:-The Wajreshwari temple is devoted to Goddess Wajreshwari.Wajreshwari shrine is one amongst the most sacred and holy destinations in Chamba.

Bhuri Singh Museum:-The Bhuri Singh Museum is one of the attraction Chamba established in the late 1908 century on 14th November. This was the time when Raja Bhuri Singh ruled over the region. The Bhuri singh Museum is located nearer to the Chaugan town of Chamba.

Chowgan:-Chowgan is the central area for the local traders. This is the point where the Minjar Fair starts from. The place is also very famous for its weeklong fair, celebrated here every year.

Chamunda Devi Temple:-The Chamunda temple is located on the top of a hill which provides the majestic view of whole Chamba region. One can also see the beautiful River Ravi and its surroundings including the rural areas as well.

How to reach:

By Air:Jolly Grant which is 80 kms is the nearest airport to reach Chamba . There are regular flights from New Delhi.

Rail: Nearest Ralway station is Rishikesh is 60 km, Connected with Delhi, Mumbai, Haridwar and other parts of India. Taxis are available from Rishikesh Railway station to Chamba.

Road:Connected by road from Delhi and other parts of North India.
